About the Role

As the Health & Safety Lead, you will play a central role in supporting operational teams across the business with hands-on safety guidance, process development, and compliance. You will ensure that safe systems of work are in place, lead investigations, and champion a safety-first culture across diverse teams and work sites. This role requires both a proactive mindset and a collaborative approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the go-to HSE advisor across the company, supporting management, site teams, subcontractors, and external partners.

  • Build strong relationships across departments to embed a culture of health, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor safe systems of work, including RAMS and risk assessments.

  • Carry out regular inspections of sites, workshops, and equipment, ensuring compliance and maintaining records.

  • Lead incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and developing corrective action plans.

  • Support departmental collaboration by understanding adjacent roles and their impact on your function.

  • Attend internal and external meetings to represent the HSE function as needed.

  • Maintain professional and legal compliance with all HSE regulations and the company's management systems.

  • Deliver engaging toolbox talks, briefings, and safety inductions to staff and site workers.

  • Uphold professional conduct when interacting with clients, stakeholders, and team members as a representative of the business.


What You'll Need to Succeed

  • NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).

  • At least 5 years' experience in a health & safety role, ideally within construction, engineering, or M&E environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of incident management, inspections, audits, and lifting operations.

  • Ability to apply practical safety solutions across varied working environments and teams.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead safety initiatives from the front.


Desirable Extras

  • Working towards or already holding Chartered Membership of IOSH.

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or currently studying towards it).
