VANRATH are recruiting for a Head of Projects to lead a Capital Projects Management team within a market leading employer, working alongside a large public sector body.

Remuneration:
£55,000 - £60,000 + package

Overview of Role:
As Head of Projects, you will be responsible for managing a team of Project Managers to deliver projects for key Government client accounts. You will be directly responsible for Stakeholder Management, Senior Project Managers, Project Management and Consultancy teams, PMO, Support Functions and Supply Chain Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities, identify and win projects through effective relationships and create a pipeline of opportunities
  • Ensure projects are secured and delivered on time and within the financial requirements and margins as specified and always seek opportunities to benefit the client
  • Leading teams in the safe delivery of projects and identify, reduce and manage all risks (technical, statutory, health and safety, commercial or otherwise)
  • Sub-contractor selection and management and overall responsibility for supply chain management
  • Financial responsibility for the delivery of the annual projects plan, manage the monthly P&L and ensure all costs are fully accountable and recoverable
  • Production of required financial and management reports
  • To lead on implementation of the project delivery workstream
  • Ensure implementation of all Contract obligations
  • Design and implement the management of all projects with a focus on high quality output and delivery (using best industry practice where appropriate)
  • Work with the Management Team and lead on the development of future program of works
  • To act as an ambassador of the Project team and lead on engagement with the Client's project team and central management function
  • Create an environment which supports a trusting and co-operative service relationship with the Client
  • Ensure contract compliance
  • Effective delivery of the annual Programme of work
  • Effective management of direct reports and development of the team
  • Effective management of project risk and opportunities using best industry practice and methodology
  • Stakeholder management of the Client Management and Project teams and Client End Users



Ideal Background:

  • 10/15 years' experience with a recognised professional qualification e.g. FRICS, RICS
  • Committed to life-long professional development
  • A mentoring approach and commitment to develop and lead by example
  • Educated to Degree level at classification 2:1 or above
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, Clients, internal / external stakeholders and employees at all levels
  • Ability to logically interpret complex and varied technical and commercial information
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record delivering complex projects & programmes
  • Effective presentation and communication skills with the mental agility to 'think on feet' and provide convincing answers with innovative or practical solutions
  • Ability to work calmly, methodically and logically under potentially demanding (and constantly changing) conditions
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Manage multiple workloads and shifting priorities in a disciplined manner
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative within a team environment
  • Strategic insight
  • Experience of working with Government / public contracts and Clients and Contract frameworks desirable
