The Role:
VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with our client in their search for a Head of Information Systems to lead their current team of circa 20 people. The post-holder is responsible for three distinct teams of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) staff in the Information Systems Office providing and supporting their requirements.

The post-holder is responsible for ensuring overall effectiveness of the corporate IS and ICT services provided. This is a fulltime role (Mon-Fri)

37 hrs p/w.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the delivery of high-quality information systems and services in an effective and customer-focused way. This includes overseeing the provision, maintenance and support of computer facilities to support the business and ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to support the IS Office work programme; developing standards and methods to implement systems that meet the business requirements, on-going business analysis and liaison with customers on IS/ICT needs.
  • Setting the strategic direction and establishing policy in respect of information systems to reflect any changing requirements and the emerging technical developments and capabilities of ICT. This includes developing an understanding of the sources and uses of information and the needs of users within and outside the organisation.
  • Providing consultancy and advice on how IS/ICT can be used to address corporate and specific business requirements - including oral and written advice.
  • Making a leading contribution to the information management requirements. This involves working closely with the Communications and Information Standards offices to develop appropriate standards for information/data management.
  • Developing and ensuring compliance with appropriate delivery, security and risk management standards for the overall ICT service.
  • Managing major ICT implementation projects using the PRINCE2 project management methodology. Acting as technical assurance for other corporate projects with major ICT input.
  • Developing and monitoring the IS Office annual budget (£1m + per annum); procuring IS/ICT systems and services as appropriate.
  • Procuring and managing third party supplier ICT contracts, ensuring alignment with requirements and demonstrating value for money.
  • Leadership, management and development of a team of approximately 20 technical and administrative staff.
  • Representing at external forums and events, building and maintaining effective and constructive partnerships with private sector suppliers, ICT staff in other similar regional/international organisations.



The Candidate
You must be able to demonstrate all of the following criteria:

  1. Providing strategic direction and management over an IT function including project management using a recognised methodology;
  2. Managing and motivating a team of staff responsible for delivery of ICT and information management services across a range of functional areas to tight deadlines and within organisational targets.


And

  1. A strong working knowledge of programme development and infrastructure management.


OR
(ii) At least 8 years' experience in both of the following areas:

  1. Providing strategic direction and management over an IT function including project management using a recognised methodology;
  2. Managing and motivating a team of staff responsible for delivery of ICT and information management services across a range of functional areas to tight deadlines and within organisational target



And

  1. A strong working knowledge of programme development and infrastructure management.


Remuneration:
£73,986-£76,220 | annual leave and benefits.
