The Opportunity
As Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Invest NI's audit function, taking ownership of the design, delivery and continuous improvement of audit processes. You will lead and develop a high-performing team, provide expert financial and audit advice to senior stakeholders, and ensure the highest standards of corporate governance and assurance are maintained.
This role offers significant scope to influence how public funds are protected and deployed, while contributing directly to Invest NI's mission of helping businesses grow, compete internationally, and attract inward investment.
About you
You will be a fully qualified accountant (minimum 5 years PQE) and a current member of one of the following bodies:
ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAI or ICAS.
You will also bring:
- Proven experience developing audit procedures and leading audit teams
- Strong background in process improvement within robust governance frameworks
- Experience interpreting and advising on legal contracts and financial structures
- Ability to deliver clear, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated people leadership, including resource planning and team development
What you'll do
- Lead a team responsible for the audit of financial assistance claims
- Design, implement and review audit procedures in line with best practice
- Ensure delivery of high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes
- Advise on commercial and financial aspects of grant contracts
- Drive systems and process improvements to enhance governance and efficiency
- Design and deliver high-quality training across the audit team
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and partners
- Liaise with Internal Audit and the Northern Ireland Audit Office
- Produce accurate, timely financial reports to support decision-making
- Contribute to risk management, governance and wider organisational projects
