VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation, who are seeking to appoint a Future Power Markets Development Manager, who will lead the strategic analysis, development, and implementation of future power market opportunities to support Northern Ireland's transition to a low-carbon energy system, focusing on innovation, project management, and cross-border market development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, prioritise, and manage a comprehensive pipeline of future power market opportunities aligned with strategic energy transition goals.
- Develop robust frameworks to assess the feasibility of new projects, including renewable energy, energy storage, and other clean technologies.
- Monitor emerging technologies such as green hydrogen, offshore wind, and hybrid storage systems, and develop strategies to integrate them into market mechanisms.
- Collaborate with innovation and technology teams to explore and implement new market solutions.
- Design commercial frameworks and policies to support market access for novel technologies, adjust strategies based on market developments, and advocate for policy changes that enable low-carbon technologies.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with technology providers, regulators, and industry stakeholders; lead collaborative projects and market trials to test new technologies.
- Manage resource allocation, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and oversee the delivery of development activities.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members, promoting a solutions-based approach to risks and issues, and ensure team skills align with emerging market trends.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant third-level qualification with 8+ years' experience in energy sector project development.
- Proven leadership in managing teams, resources, and delivering outcomes.
- Experience developing policy-driven projects and engaging with regulatory processes.
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor teams and support professional development.
You will stand out if:
- Experience with the Irish SEM, European power systems, or TSOs.
- Knowledge of electricity market operations, including Transmission and Balancing Markets.
- Familiarity with market schemes such as RESS and LDES.
- Background in partnership building and collaborative projects.
- Skills in market analysis, decarbonisation strategies, and energy policy.
- Understanding of Market/Network Codes and regulated industry compliance.
