FOI Officer / Information Governance Support (Interim)
Location: Belfast
Contract: Interim - approx. 2 months
Working Pattern: Full-time
Salary: Circa £31,500-£33,700 (pro rata)
An established public sector organisation is seeking an FOI-focused interim to provide immediate support managing Freedom of Information (FOI) and related information requests during a busy period.
This role is highly operational and would suit someone who has hands-on experience processing FOI requests end-to-end, is comfortable working to statutory deadlines, and can step in with minimal onboarding.
The Role
The postholder will be responsible for supporting and progressing FOI requests in line with legislative requirements and internal procedures, ensuring responses are accurate, timely and appropriately reviewed.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing and progressing FOI requests from receipt through to response
Logging, tracking and monitoring requests to ensure statutory deadlines are met
Liaising with internal stakeholders to gather information and draft responses
Assisting with responses under UK GDPR / Data Protection legislation, where required
Maintaining accurate records and audit trails in line with information governance standards
Supporting managers with FOI-related queries and escalation issues
Ensuring sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately at all times
Essential Criteria
Applicants must be able to demonstrate recent, hands-on experience in:
Processing FOI requests within a public sector or regulated environment
Working to statutory timescales and managing competing priorities
Drafting clear, accurate written responses for review and sign-off
Handling sensitive information in line with data protection requirements
Using IT systems to log, track and manage casework
