Finance Assistant (FMCG + Career Progression)
VANRATH is pleased to be working a well-known FMCG organisation in Belfast as they recruit to expand their current team. Due to internal promotion, our client is seeking a multifaceted finance professional to join their already established team. Reporting directly to the Management Accountant the successful applicant will play a vital part in the month end process.

The Role

The successful Finance Assistant will report directly to the management accountant and support the finance function in the production of monthly management accounts. The successful Finance Assistant will be responsible the following:

  • Posting of AR, AP and bank transactions onto ledger
  • Posting supplier invoices and preparing payment runs;
  • Matching of purchase orders to supplier invoices
  • Supporting the wider team in the preparation of weekly/monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including debtors, creditors, accruals, prepayments
  • Monitor costs vs budget, and investigating reasons for variances
  • Preparing data into journal format including posting to general ledger
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and previously have worked in a fast paced finance function, as well as having sound understanding of accounting principles. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified at a minimum level to one of the following; Degree qualified to at least 2:1 Honours level in finance, business, accounting, or other analytical degree; or At least 2 years recent experience in a relevant finance environment
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Self-development
