Client

A leading Public Sector organisation is currently recruiting an Finance Assistant to join their established team for an initial 6 month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an employer who provide an essential service to the local community.

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant will be responsible for producing, monitoring and maintaining payment processing systems and controls, along with managing the staff within the payments processing function. Additionally, they will be expected to support the Assistant Finance Officer by undertaking the finance duties detailed below.

Responsibilities

Management responsibility for the administrative team within finance, ensuring that appropriate systems, processes, policies, procedures and practices to meet the needs of the organisation are implemented.


* Ensuring the integrity of the data entered into the Management Information Systems by reviewing and signing off all claims.
* Ensure Programme payments are made within Key Performance Indicators.
* Identify, report and where necessary, follow-up on cases where debt recovery may be appropriate.
* Liaise directly with staff, clients and suppliers to resolve payment queries.
* Manage and oversee the administration of the Individual Needs Programme (INP) claims processing activities within agreed procedures.
* Collation of statistical information relating to the INP for management reporting purposes.
* Maintenance and updating of key organisational registers.

Assist with:

* Month end closure, including month end reconciliation work.
* Preparation of year end accounts, including associated reconciliation and analytical work.

* Collation and provision of information for internal and external audit during audit fieldwork.

The Ideal Person

Essential Criteria

1. A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grades A-C (or equivalent) to include English Language and Mathematics.


2. A minimum of 1 year's experience of working in a similar role, experience to include:
a. Assisting in the maintenance of financial payment systems.
b. Maintaining payment control processes.
c. Working in a target-driven environment with Key Performance Indicators.
d. Carrying out reconciliation work.
e. Collating financial and statistical information.


3. Competence in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel.
