Job description

VANRATH are assisting a well-established Northern Ireland organisation within the energy and fuel supply sector with the recruitment of a Field Sales Representative. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional to take ownership of a well-defined territory and play a key role in expanding an established customer base.

This is a field-based role covering the Greater Belfast and East region, including Belfast, Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Ballymena, Bangor/Holywood, Ards & Peninsula areas and Downpatrick.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 + commission/bonus structure
Benefits: Company vehicle or car allowance, fuel card and career development opportunities

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and growing a regional customer portfolio while identifying new opportunities across commercial and agricultural sectors. This role combines new business development with account management, including re-engaging with dormant or previously inactive leads.

This territory previously had dedicated field coverage, providing the incoming sales professional with existing contacts and lapsed opportunities to reactivate while building new relationships across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a structured territory sales strategy across the Belfast and East region

  • Identify and secure new customers within commercial, transport, construction and agricultural markets

  • Manage and expand relationships with existing accounts to maximise long-term revenue

  • Re-engage with dormant or previously inactive leads provided within the territory

  • Conduct regular on-site meetings with customers to understand requirements and present solutions

  • Promote a full range of fuel and oil products to suit individual customer needs

  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms in line with company guidelines

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline and customer engagement through the CRM system

  • Monitor local market activity and competitor developments

  • Work closely with internal operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth service delivery

  • Achieve agreed targets around new business acquisition, revenue growth and account retention

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in a field-based sales role

  • Background in fuel, energy, lubricants, construction supply, transport or a related B2B sector would be advantageous

  • Strong negotiation and closing ability

  • Confident relationship builder with excellent communication skills

  • Experience managing a territory and planning customer visits effectively

  • Comfortable working to revenue and activity targets

  • CRM system experience

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
