Estates Officer - Electrical (Public Sector)

Discover a great opportunity to become a key part of a busy Public Sector Estates team. As a Electrical Estates Officer, you'll be responsible for making sure the building systems run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Your work will directly support the delivery of high-quality patient care by keeping the estate in top condition. This role is based in Lisburn, initial 6 month contract with great likelihood of extension, possibly leading to a permanent opportunity.

Job Summary:


Manage estate operations related to building maintenance, engineering services, and assets. Oversee mechanical and electrical systems, maintenance planning, staff development, and compliance. Support high-quality patient care by ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable estate operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering systems, update maintenance methods, and plan schedules.
  • Control and develop maintenance and operational staff.
  • Prepare maintenance estimates, engineering reports, and project briefs.
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and renewals of equipment/analysing assets directly or via contractors.
  • Conduct inspections, condition surveys, and oversee emergency responses.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory standards (HTM, ACoP).
  • Use building management systems for energy control and monitoring.
  • Manage contracts, equipment registers, and service level agreements.
  • Coordinate external contractors and maintain records.
  • Lead policies on maintenance, risk, and service improvement.
  • Promote sustainability and energy efficiency.
  • Manage budgets, approve invoices, and oversee training.
  • Support legal investigations and represent the client as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and environmentally responsible work environment.

Person Specification: Essential Criteria


Experience:
Managing engineering systems with up-to-date maintenance planning methods; control and development of maintenance and operational staff; preparing maintenance estimates and engineering reports; carrying out repairs, replacements, and renewals of plant/equipment and services either directly or via contractors.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant Electrical Engineering-related subject + 2 years' relevant experience, OR
  • HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant Electrical engineering related subject + 4 years' relevant experience,


Skills:
Effective communication, team leadership, budget management, organisational skills, flexibility including out-of-hours availability.


Additional:
Experience in healthcare environment is desirable.
