Job Description

VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for an Engagement Officer for a well known Public Sector organisation.

Responsibilities

The Engagement Officer is a key member of the team of staff responsible for ensuring that the organisation has a key influence on legislation and public policy.

  • Working with the Senior Policy Officer and team to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive reform agenda, encompassing key programmes and associated projects to further the organisation's work; promote equality of opportunity; and challenge inequality in Northern Ireland.
  • Provide up to date and robust advice on relevant public policy and legislative developments.
  • Engage with decision makers and stakeholders to refine and raise awareness of priorities and recommendations for law and public policy.
  • Engage with decision makers and stakeholders to towards securing advocacy and adoption of the organisation's priorities and recommendations.
  • Liaise effectively with directorate and other colleagues across the organisation.

The Ideal Person

  • A third level qualification or equivalent professional qualification which has included training in the analysis of social policy, public policy or legislation and/or socio-economic research methods.
    • Applicants without the relevant qualification will be considered if they demonstrate at least five years relevant experience.
  • At least two years relevant experience, where the substantive duties have included the delivery of one or more of the following:
    • public engagement and awareness raising;
    • delivering interventions to drive change; and/or
    • socio-economic analysis / research.
  • Evidence of skills to develop and present key arguments to secure support from specific audiences.
  • Evidence of skills to plan, deliver and evaluate allocated projects.
