An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Employment Law Solicitor to join a respected Belfast practice known for its strong commitment to employee-side representation. The firm specialises in advising and supporting individuals, workers and trade-union members across the full spectrum of employment law issues, offering high-quality advocacy, clear advice and strong client care.

The Role

You will manage a varied and meaningful caseload, supporting clients facing complex workplace issues and contributing to a well-established employment law team.
Key responsibilities include:

• Advising clients on unfair and wrongful dismissal, discrimination, equal pay, harassment, redundancy, grievances/disciplinaries, TUPE, contractual disputes, working time and related matters.
• Representing clients in Employment Tribunal claims and associated litigation.
• Providing advice on settlement agreements, negotiation strategies and trade union-related matters including industrial action ballots, recognition disputes and constitutional issues.
• Building strong, trusted relationships with clients, including individuals and union members, ensuring clear communication and high-quality service.
• Supporting the continued growth of the employment law offering through strong client engagement and professional representation.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Qualification as a Solicitor (NI or England & Wales) with experience in employment law and tribunal advocacy.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive matters.
• Excellent communication and empathy, with a genuine commitment to employee-side representation.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Professionalism, integrity and sound judgement.
