Job Description

VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity within a high-impact public body for the position of Employment Development Officer (Staff Officer Grade). This 3-month contract offers the chance to work within a collaborative and values-led team, with potential for extension beyond the initial term.
The successful candidate will contribute to advancing good employment practices and promoting equality of opportunity across Northern Ireland's employment landscape, with a focus on both public and private sector organisations.
Key Responsibilities
You will play a pivotal role in:

  • Advising employers on equality legislation and best practice in line with Codes of Practice.
  • Assessing and reviewing employment practices and recommending improvements.
  • Developing and delivering training programmes for employers, trade unions, and stakeholder groups.
  • Producing guidance materials, resources, and content for consultation and publication.
  • Supporting employer compliance through promotion of positive action strategies and reviewing Article 55 reports.
  • Representing the organisation at conferences, seminars, and external forums.
  • Collaborating on projects and building partnerships with relevant external organisations.

The Ideal Candidate
To be considered, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience of advising or negotiating on employment/equality matters.
  • A third-level qualification or, alternatively, at least 3 years of experience in a relevant field (e.g. HR, equality, training, policy).
  • At least 2 years' experience in a role involving HR, equal opportunities, training, or equality policy work.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programmes to groups or organisations.
