Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Cyber)


VANRATH is proud to be partnering with our client a high-growth UK cyber security start-up in the search for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer.

With recent big wins and local and national exposure they have developed some first-class partnerships with both government and academic bodies.

In this team you will get exposure to some extremely innovative and exciting world class projects. They have already won a number of impressive awards and look destined for great things.

With a well known local Site Lead already on board they are keen to ramp up a high quality team ASAP.

They are working on ground-breaking solutions for cyber risks in connected technology, Automotive, Industry 4.0 & IoT!

They operate at the intersection of real-time computing, high-performance technologies and cybersecurity within connected vehicles, Industry 4.0, smart cities and IoT devices.

The role

Join a small, autonomous team building embedded software solutions from scratch to showcase your skill set

Creating high-level embedded software specifications and design documents

Providing technical leadership for the embedded software development team

Testing the final product to ensure it is completely functional and meets requirements

The ideal person:

  • 5-10 years experience of developing embedded systems solutions
  • A degree in electronic engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline (2:1 minimum)
  • Experience in programming embedded systems in C/C++
  • Experience of developing for embedded Linux based systems
  • Proven hands-on experience with debugging and fault finding
  • Knowledge of industrial systems and industrial communication networks including Modbus, PROFIBUS, CAN and Ethernet

OR

  • Knowledge of IoT networking protocols such as Thread, CoAP, MQTT, 6LoWPAN, BLE, Zigbee, Z-Wave or telecoms (4G or 5G)
