Electrical Inspector

Job Description

Our client, a leading organisation in the M&E sector, is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector (Clerk of Works) to join their Project Delivery team. This is a key site-based role supporting a range of building services and infrastructure upgrade projects across commercial and industrial schemes.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring electrical installations are compliant, safe, and completed to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out regular inspections across multiple construction and M&E project sites

  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, H&S standards, and M&E contract specifications

  • Record detailed site observations and submit accurate weekly inspection reports

  • Monitor materials, equipment, and workmanship throughout the installation process

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Contract Administrators, and engineering teams to address variations, defects, and risks

  • Support with project measurements, handover processes, and final commissioning reports


Essential Criteria:

Candidates must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • A degree in an M&E, construction, or technical discipline plus 2 years' post-qualification experience, or

  • A BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a relevant technical field plus 3 years' practical experience, or

  • A minimum of 4 years' direct experience in electrical inspection, installation, or site-based M&E work (in the absence of formal qualifications)

Additionally, you must demonstrate:

  • Excellent technical reporting and verbal communication skills

  • Strong ability to interpret current electrical regulations and apply sound judgement on site

  • Proven track record in collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams

  • Familiarity with BS 7671 (18th Edition) electrical wiring regulations

  • Competency with Microsoft Office, digital site reporting tools, and mobile inspection apps

  • A valid UK driving licence and access to personal transport
