Our client, a major public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector (Clerk of Works) to join their Project Delivery team. This is a crucial site-based role supporting planned improvement programmes and adaptations across housing schemes.
You'll play a vital part in ensuring electrical works meet the highest standards for compliance, safety, and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections across multiple construction sites
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety requirements, and contract specifications
- Record site findings and submit accurate weekly reports
- Monitor materials and workmanship quality throughout project phases
- Liaise with Project Managers and Contract Administrators regarding variations, defects, or risks
- Assist with measurement, handover processes, and final reporting
Essential Criteria:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- A degree in a technical/construction discipline + 2 years' post-qualification experience, or
- A BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a technical/construction field + 3 years' experience, or
- 4 years of directly relevant construction maintenance experience (without formal qualifications)
In addition, candidates must demonstrate:
- Strong technical reporting and communication skills
- Sound judgement in interpreting regulations and making decisions on site
- Effective collaboration with project teams
- Familiarity with the 17th Edition (or later) electrical standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile/digital reporting systems
- A valid driving licence and access to personal transport
