Job description

Electrical Estimator / Bid Manager (Contractor - Armagh)

Client

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Estimator / Bid Manager to join the expanding team at Fox Electrical Contractors Ltd, a long-established and reputable contractor based in Armagh. With a strong pipeline of commercial, industrial, education and public-sector projects, the company is continuing its upward trajectory and now requires an ambitious individual to strengthen its tendering and pre-construction function. This is a key position offering job security, autonomy, professional development and genuine long-term career progression within a successful and growing organisation.

The Ideal Person

We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience in estimating, electrical design, project engineering, project management or a commercial role within electrical contracting or construction, with a strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications and prepare accurate take-offs. You will have experience preparing or assisting with tenders, quotations or cost plans of any project size, alongside good IT proficiency, ideally including Microsoft Word, Excel and Project, with AutoCAD and recognised estimating software considered advantageous. Excellent communication skills, a methodical and organised approach, strong commercial awareness and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential, along with a full UK driving licence. Electricians or site-based electrical supervisors looking to step into estimating are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

As Electrical Estimator / Bid Manager, you will contribute directly to business growth by researching labour, material, transport and equipment costs for tender submissions, preparing detailed and competitive quotations for a wide range of electrical projects, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations and maintaining an accurate cost database, identifying project risks and contributing to tender strategy, supporting bids for new contracts and liaising with clients, main contractors and design teams, monitoring project costs against budgets to ensure financial performance, and attending design, tender and progress meetings as required.

Remuneration

The role offers a salary of £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, a company vehicle provided for site travel, company pension, 28 days holiday including bank holidays, free on-site parking, performance-based bonus and a new business incentive scheme.
