Education Support Assistant


A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Education Support Assistant to join a highly respected Further Education College in Coleraine. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference by supporting learners to overcome barriers and reach their full potential. The position is offered on an ongoing temporary basis and would suit an experienced learning support professional who is passionate about inclusive education.

The Ideal Candidate


The successful applicant will bring a strong educational background and hands-on support experience, including:


  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline

  • GCSE English Language (A-C) or Essential Skills Level 2+ in Communication (or equivalent)

  • GCSE Maths (A-C) or Essential Skills Level 2+ in Application of Number, or NICATS Access Maths modules

  • At least 12 months' experience providing one-to-one support to young people or adults within FE and/or HE settings

  • Recent experience supporting learners with disabilities and/or additional barriers to learning

  • Experience delivering study skills support in an education or training environment

Key Responsibilities


As an Education Support Assistant, you will:


  • Provide in-class one-to-one or small group support to learners

  • Identify and respond effectively to barriers to learning

  • Support students with literacy, numeracy, communication, and IT skills

  • Assist in managing a range of challenges, including behavioural issues

  • Implement reasonable adjustments to support individual learning needs

  • Prepare and maintain student progress reports

  • Organise and facilitate drop-in support sessions for learners
