Director of Investigations (Part Time)

Job Description

VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a Public Sector organisation in search of an interim Director of Investigations. The role will be Part time (3 days per week) and based in Belfast.

Salary
The equivalent full time salary for this role will be £52,026 - £55,685 at NICS Grade 7 level. This would be a starting hourly rate of £27.04 plus excellent benefits exclusive to VANRATH.

The Ideal Person

  • Have experience of managing a team in a challenging and high profile environment.
  • Have experience of managing team and individual performance and quality improvement interventions and initiatives.
  • Have experience of leading a team with a complex investigative/casework workload and individually leading on and delivering complex and sensitive decisions within an Ombudsman, regulatory or administrative justice environment.
  • Have experience of applying analytical and technical skills to reach sound and impartial conclusions on complex issues and investigations in a complex and high-profile environment.
  • Possess highly developed influencing and communication skills when dealing with a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the public, public bodies, senior officials, elected representatives, community organisations, staff and the media. This should include demonstrable experience of effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management to influence external developments, initiatives or events of significance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and support investigative staff and account for team performance.
  • Develop and maintain a performance management culture, with accountability for the team's performance against KPls and service standards.
  • Exercise full personal jurisdictional authority in cases
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to a team on the investigation of complaints.
  • To provide direction on technical or legally complex cases and lead on sensitive and complex investigations if requested.
  • Where appropriate engage directly with complainants, councillors public representatives and senior staff in bodies under investigation.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders and senior management as appropriate.
  • Provide advice and guidance on complex assessment decisions, handovers and investigation decisions taking full authority where necessary or appropriate.
