Job description

Design & Quality Manager
£40,000 per annum

Location: Coleraine
Type: Full-Time, Permanent

A leading specialist manufacturer of high-end, bespoke architectural products is seeking an experienced Technical & Quality Manager to oversee drawing standards, technical coordination, and quality assurance across the full design-to-installation process.

This is a hands-on technical role combined with cross-departmental management. You'll be producing detailed working drawings while also ensuring smooth workflow, quality control, and technical accuracy across design, production, and installation teams.

The role requires someone who can bring structure, clarity, and consistency to complex projects - ensuring every build is delivered to a premium standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the technical flow of each project from initial drawings to final installation, ensuring clarity and consistency throughout.
  • Produce accurate working and technical drawings for production, installation, and client approval.
  • Manage design-team workflow, prioritising tasks and maintaining pace without compromising detail.
  • Act as the link between Design, Production, and Installation to ensure each team has the right information at the right time.
  • Maintain and enforce drawing standards - including performance detailing, energy efficiency considerations, security requirements, and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Implement quality-control checkpoints across design, materials, production processes, and final fit.
  • Develop and standardise drawing templates, folders, trackers, and technical systems for improved visibility and organisation.
  • Support day-to-day operations within the design department while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production and installation teams to resolve technical issues, eliminate rework, and ensure drawings translate accurately on the shop floor and on site.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across technical workflows, quality levels, and operational efficiency.

About You
You will excel in this role if you:

  • Have strong experience producing technical drawings and managing workflows within joinery, construction, or bespoke manufacturing environments.
  • Are comfortable moving between hands-on drawing work and team coordination.
  • Understand how production and installation processes connect to design - and how drawings must support both.
  • Have a keen eye for detail and a passion for accuracy, quality, and reducing rework.
  • Are organised, structured, and confident in problem-solving when pressures rise.
  • Have experience improving systems, standardising processes, or applying Lean thinking.

What Success Looks Like

  • Drawings are accurate, consistent, and fully trusted across all departments.
  • Technical issues are resolved early rather than becoming downstream problems.
  • Workflow is smooth, predictable, and supported by well-structured systems.
  • Production and installation teams receive clear, complete information every time.
  • You become a central point of technical coordination, quality leadership, and delivery excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow your career and lead a team within an innovative, fast-moving, and industry-leading business.
