Job Title: Defence Litigation Solicitor
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
About the Firm
A highly respected Northern Ireland law firm with a strong reputation in litigation and insurance work is seeking to appoint an experienced Defence Litigation Solicitor to join its growing team. The firm advises major insurers, commercial organisations and self-insured clients, offering high-quality, pragmatic and commercially focused legal support across a broad spectrum of disputes.

The Role
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of defence litigation matters on behalf of insurer and insured clients. Work will span a range of contentious issues, with exposure to complex and high-value claims.
You will work closely with a supportive team of experienced litigators while maintaining strong client contact and autonomy over files.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own caseload across all stages of the litigation process
- Providing clear, concise and commercially focused legal advice to clients
- Drafting pleadings, correspondence and detailed advices
- Engaging in negotiations, settlement discussions and alternative dispute resolution
- Working closely with colleagues, clients and counsel to progress matters efficiently
- Contributing to the team's ongoing service delivery and wider practice development
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in defence litigation, insurance litigation or a closely related area
- Strong understanding of litigation procedure
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience in insurance-led litigation or complex defence files
- Familiarity with cross-border matters (NI / ROI / UK)
- Experience supporting junior team members (depending on experience level)
- Solicitors qualified in England & Wales who have relevant litigation experience are also very welcome to apply
