My client are a NI success story, operating in the payments industry and on behalf of some of the biggest clients in the e-commerce space. As a Database Administrator you will be responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the company's databases. You will be involved in the planning and development of the database, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.

About the Role

My client are looking for a talented individual who will be responsible for ensuring that the company's SQL architecture is performant, secure and stable. The role itself will involves troubleshooting and resolving third line incidents and problems whilst maintaining and administering the overall database infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot and resolve third line incidents and problems.
Maintain and administer the overall database infrastructure
Management, administration, availability, performance and improvement of the SQL databases
Script and migrate code and schema between development, test and production servers
Export/import client and analytic data with different level of transformations
Write optimised T-SQL queries for database objects and ad hoc reports
Write and develop production database objects like tables, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, views, functions
Run regular recovery and consistency checks on the backups and databases
Optimise data patterns to improve and optimise performance, maintainability and security
Update and upgrade SQL Server versions across production, reporting, test and development database servers

Requirements

Essential

Significant experience as a DBA and knowledge of the infrastructure that the databases reside on.
A solid understanding of infrastructure, virtualisation, SAN and SQL technologies
Previous exposure to MS SQL Server database administration and maintenance
Experience with SQL Server security management and auditing
Full understanding of SQL Server backup and recovery procedures
Previous experience configuring SQL Server monitoring utilities and experience of maintaining large databases over 500GB.
Proven experience of developing high performance and sustainable databases

Knowledge of Agile Methodology
Background in IT / Software Development

Location

My client are based in a newly built office in the centre of Belfast, the office is a 2 minute walk from the Cathedral quarter and less 10 minutes from both Great Victoria Street and Belfast central train stations.
