Job Description

My client have created a bespoke technology platform for highly skilled employees globally. This is a highly advanced matchmaking platform which is the new incarnation of a formerly manual process. We have been briefed by the client on the use case here, and its genuinely one of the largest projects of its type that we have ever seen locally.

My client is ready to transition from manual to automated matchmaking by pioneering technologies within the machine learning space. Using NLP and other data extraction, they seek to build out the capability to identify the best talent for roles at the right time. Pulling information out of the vast database of Talent and Client preferences.

You should be enthusiastic about learning new technologies and be able to
implement solutions using them to provide new functionality to the users or to scale the
existing platform. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as the person
will work very closely with diverse teams.

Having strong analytical skills is a plus. Above all, you should be passionate about working with
data and someone who loves to enable business team with data to answer critical questions
and drive change. As a data engineer, you will work closely with the other engineers on the
team and across axiom to establish best practices and the general development of the data
engineering program.

A successful candidate will have a passion for clarity, be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, have strong attention to detail, be able to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment and be driven by a desire to innovate.

Given the complex nature of the questions
my client is working on, the ideal candidate will be relentlessly curious and be able to/be interested in having the business conversation underlying the data.

Specifically, this role will:

* Interface with customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete data
solutions.
* Model data and metadata to support reporting and modelling.
* Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design,
analysis, validation, and documentation.
* Tune application and query performance using the best available tools.
* Analyse and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader
context.
* Keep up to date with advances in big data technologies and run pilots to design the data architecture.
* Triage many possible courses of action in a high-ambiguity environment, making use of both quantitative analysis and business judgment.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
* 3+ years of SQL development experience
* 3+ years of experience in data modelling, ETL, and Data Warehousing
* 1+ years of experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, RDS, EMR, etc.
* Solid experience in at least one business intelligence reporting tool (e.g., Tableau, Quicksight, Qlikview)

Preferred Qualifications

* 3+ years of Python scripting (or other platform-agnostic language)
* Capable of data processing and transference outside of ETL tools or databases (custom scripts to pull and load from APIs or Files)
* Experience writing software requirements
* Experience working with AWS big data processing technologies (S3, Sagemaker, Redshift, EMR, Spark)
* Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code review, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
* Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and gitlab
