Data Engineer

My client is a key investor in the Data and Digitalisation technologies within their sector. You will sit within a team of talented Data Engineers, as they build material capability and community.

You will directly support the the business units as they crave greater data and insight to drive the performance of the overall Group of companies. My client are looking for talented and experience IT professionals with a strong foundation in SQL, Data Warehousing and Cloud technologies.

Responsibilities:

* Compilation and installation of database systems, scaling to multiple machines, writing complex queries
* Creating data set processes used in modelling, mining, acquisition, and verification
* Creation and maintenance of optimal data pipeline architecture
* Assembly of large, complex data sets that meet functional /non-functional business requirements
* Developing solutions to common engineering challenges around data technologies including Python, SSIS, SSRS,
SSAS, data visualisation tools and other data tools
* Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data
sources using SQL and 'big data' technologies
* Build analytics tools that utilise the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational
efficiency and other key business performance metrics
* Responsible for finding trends in data sets and developing algorithms to help make raw data more useful.
* Conducting peer review of data solutions, test cases and evidence

Essential Criteria:

Advanced working knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases, query authoring
(SQL) as well as working experience with a variety of databases in an IT working environment

* Functional and technical knowledge of Python
* Experience of using one or more of:
o Azure Databricks
o Azure Data Lake
o Data Factory
o Azure Synapse
* Exposure to any number of the following areas of SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and data visualisation tools
* Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets
* Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business
questions and identify opportunities for improvement
* A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected data set
