My client have hired a well respected local Technologist to establish their Belfast centre of excellence. VANRATH have worked with this client to help secure some excellent Data Engineering and Data Science talent. This is a well experienced and passionate team of Technologists, a flat structure, where everybody will have a voice. One of the best projects to have set up in 2021.

My client are seeking a strong Data Engineer to help them design and build a SaaS insights platform, becoming a key part of our fun, fast-paced environment.

The Vision:


My client see a gap for a new software platform that can provide clients with the decision science capabilities of digital native retail giants. Having built this capability over several years with these market leaders, it became clear that there was an ever-growing gap with the wider market, particularly in digital channels. By providing a one-stop optimisation platform , this business will help clients compete and unlock data driven decisions on key areas such as pricing, customer targeting, product range, and sustainability. The 'sustainable growth platform' will be built with low barriers to entry to support clients regardless of their digital maturity levels.

Role Responsibilities:


A Data Engineer you will have a combination of backend and data engineering skills and knowledge. You will help design and build a fast, resilient, and highly scalable cloud native data and analytics platform to grow retail and brand SaaS products. You will be using a combination of Python, JavaScript and other potential languages as appropriate for the use case.
Key Responsibilities of this role will be:
· Work collaboratively with the Data Science teams to quickly provision and make accessible customer and 3rd party data for analysis and exploration
· Develop reusable cloud native data services to build out SaaS Decision Science platform
· Design, implement and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for analytics and data science
· Implement robust, scalable and efficient automated data ingestion pipelines for both real time and batch using best practices
· Adopt and contribute to Core Engineering Practices across design, build, test, deployment and run
· Partner with product managers, engineers and data scientists to understand and deliver valuable product features from conception to release
· Identify and resolve quality issues and handle product support requests.
· Develop tested, secure production quality code and deploy using CI/CD and DevOps practices from development to production
· Work with cloud technologies to deliver robust, scalable services and product features.
· Ingest, transform, and load data from multiple internal and external sources (structured and unstructured)
· Work closely with data scientists to implement and deliver productionised models
· Lead and mentor less experienced members of the team
