Job Description


VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a leading foodservice provider in Coleraine to recrit an experienced Credit Manager to join their team.


Role Overview: The primary responsibility of the Credit Manager is to oversee the company's cash collection and debt control processes, ensuring alignment with the Credit Strategy and Policy up to the legal stage.


The Credit Manager will report directly to the Head of Credit and Risk and will be accountable for the following tasks:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of 10 credit professionals
  • Monitoring and optimising team performance
  • Overseeing customer account administration
  • Ensuring timely settlement of accounts
  • Efficiently and effectively collecting overdue and aged debt
  • Reducing bad debt and minimising write-offs
  • Addressing and resolving customer queries
  • Handling complex or sensitive customer situations
  • Collaborating with internal staff members
  • Providing management reports to the business


Ideal Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Credit Control and 2 years of Credit Management experience. They should exhibit a strong commercial acumen, a customer-centric mindset, and exceptional skills in people management, negotiation, and decision-making.

Essential Criteria:

  • 3 years of Credit Control and 2 years of Credit Management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make commercial decisions
  • Experience in a target-driven, results-oriented, and fast-paced business environment
  • Experience in setting and reviewing individual and team performance targets
  • Proven track record in achieving and driving departmental KPIs
  • Experience in staff appraisals, training, and development
  • Knowledge of underwriting and the use of credit-checking software and systems to assess trade risks


Desired Criteria:

  • PQ Credit Management qualification at Level 2 or above, or equivalent recognised experience
  • Knowledge of the NI/ROI/Scottish legal system
  • Experience attending debt recovery court hearings
