Contracts Manager - Public Scetor

Job Description

A public sector client is currently seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of planned maintenance and refurbishment works across a large portfolio of social housing properties.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled construction professional to step into a key leadership role, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team and managing external contractors. The successful candidate will play a central role in improving housing standards across Northern Ireland, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery of planned works contracts across social housing stock.
  • Manage teams of operatives and subcontractors to deliver efficient and high-quality refurbishment and maintenance works.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety regulations, including CDM.
  • Develop and monitor programmes of work, including labour and materials planning.
  • Maintain strong relationships with tenants, local authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Drive performance and value for money across all projects.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and prepare project reports.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or Project Manager role within construction or social housing.
  • A strong technical understanding of planned maintenance, property refurbishment, and building regulations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements, including CDM regulations.
  • Confident in using IT systems and mobile technology to manage and track project performance.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while managing multiple workstreams.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in construction programme or project management.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
