Construction Site Manager - Restoration (Edinburgh / London Flexibility)
CLIENT
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Site Manager to lead a high-profile restoration project based in Edinburgh. This 18-month permanent position offers flexibility to transition to future projects in London upon completion.
Our client is a well-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex building and heritage restoration schemes across the UK. The project involves the restoration of listed buildings, requiring a confident, hands-on professional capable of operating at senior stakeholder level.
Accommodation is provided in a newly converted apartment (shared with three subcontractors) located just four minutes from site. Utilities are fully covered, and flights home to Northern Ireland can be facilitated on alternate weekends.
The Ideal Person
Proven experience as a CSR Site Manager
Holds SMSTS (or equivalent) certification
Strong building construction background (trade background highly desirable - not electrical or mechanical)
Demonstrable experience working on restoration or listed building projects
Ability to read, interpret and challenge drawings and specifications
Confident in stakeholder engagement and capable of leading meetings with senior contractors
Proactive, professional, and commercially aware
Hands-on approach with the ability to oversee works such as stone removal and replacement
Based in Northern Ireland and willing to work away
Responsibilities
As Site Manager, you will:
Take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations on a listed building restoration project
Manage subcontractors and coordinate trades on site
Oversee specialist restoration works, including stone removal and replacement
Ensure works are delivered in line with drawings, programme, and quality standards
Chair site meetings and liaise confidently with senior management and key stakeholders
Maintain strict health & safety compliance in line with CSR and industry regulations
Monitor programme delivery and proactively resolve on-site challenges
Ensure the highest standards of workmanship appropriate to heritage projects
Remuneration
£50,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience)
