VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our client, a large Public Sector organisation with the recruitment of a Complaints Investigator to join their team based in Belfast.

About you

  • Degree in Law and at least two years' relevant experience including formal investigation work, or at least five years' relevant investigation experience
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess large volumes of information to identify key facts
  • Strong written communication and drafting skills, with experience preparing reports and recommendations
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple cases, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Able to exercise sound judgement and work independently while contributing effectively within a team
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable

  • Experience working within a regulatory or complaints-handling environment
  • Knowledge of Northern Ireland legal frameworks, particularly professional conduct or complaints legislation
  • Additional qualifications in investigation or complaints handling

What you'll do

  • Investigate and assess complaints about solicitor services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal procedures
  • Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports and recommendations for consideration by professional committees
  • Manage a personal caseload from initial registration through to final determination, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality throughout
  • Liaise with solicitors, members of the public, and third parties, providing clear and professional communication at all times
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of procedures, systems, and reporting tools
  • Maintain accurate case records and provide statistics and reports to management as required
  • Participate in team meetings, performance reviews, and relevant training or project work
