VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly respected charity organisation based in Lisburn, as they recruit a Company Accountant to join their finance team on a 12 month contract.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure across management accounts, statutory reporting and day-to-day financial operations. The successful candidate will play a key role within a small finance team and will be involved in all aspects of the finance function, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and ownership in their role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Company Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial control and effective support to the wider organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

* Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
* Production of annual statutory accounts and support through audit process
* Overseeing day-to-day financial operations, including ledgers, bank reconciliations and cashflow management
* Supporting budget preparation, forecasting and monitoring of spend against budgets
* Ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards, regulatory and governance requirements
* Managing and supporting junior members of the finance team
* Maintaining and improving financial controls, processes and reporting
* Liaising with external auditors, advisors and key stakeholders
* Providing financial insight and support to non-finance budget holders
* Supporting ad-hoc finance and reporting requirements across the organisation

Education / Experience:

* Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA (or qualified by experience)
* Proven experience in a Company Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role
* Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting audits
* Previous experience within a charity, not-for-profit or public sector environment desirable but not essential
* Comfortable working in a small team and taking ownership across the finance function
* Strong communication skills with the ability to support non-finance stakeholders
