This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation operating within the utilities and infrastructure sector, supporting the delivery of essential services and long-term infrastructure projects. The business is now seeking to appoint an In-House Commercial Solicitor to join its collaborative legal team.
The role offers broad, engaging exposure to commercial, regulatory, and strategic matters within a complex and highly regulated environment. It is particularly well suited to a solicitor seeking high-quality in-house work, meaningful projects, and an overall package - including flexibility and benefits - that is rarely matched in private practice at this level.
The Opportunity
As part of a supportive and well-regarded in-house legal function, you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across the organisation. Working closely with technical, operational, and commercial stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting major initiatives, managing risk, and helping the business deliver its objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on legal and regulatory obligations within a regulated utilities or infrastructure environment.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and procurement contracts.
Support capital projects, infrastructure development, and wider strategic initiatives.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise on their operational impact.
Provide clear, practical advice to non-legal stakeholders across the business.
Assist with disputes and manage relationships with external legal advisers.
Support corporate governance requirements and Board-related processes.
Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the legal team.
About You
Qualified solicitor with 2+ years' post-qualification experience.
Experience across commercial contracts, procurement, regulatory, or public-facing work.
Strong commercial judgement with a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
Comfortable working across multiple legal areas in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative, approachable, and confident engaging with non-legal colleagues.
Keen to develop expertise within a specialist, regulated sector.
Desirable (not essential):
Experience in energy, utilities, or another regulated industry.
Experience working within a large or complex organisation.
Interest in sustainability, infrastructure, or the energy transition.
