Job description

VANRATH is working with a long-established and highly regarded insurance brokerage to recruit a Commercial/New Business Sales Executive (Agri). This is a growth-focused role, responsible for building a strong agricultural new business pipeline and converting opportunities into profitable, long-term client relationships.

The position suits an individual with proven agricultural insurance sales experience, who understands the risks and challenges within the agri and rural sector and can operate confidently within a regulated environment.

Branches are based all around Northern Ireland and you will work at the closest available location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a robust agricultural new business pipeline through a mix of self-generated leads, referrals, introducer relationships, telemarketing activity, NTU opportunities and win-back business
  • Consistently achieve, and where possible exceed, quarterly and annual agri new business income targets
  • Conduct detailed fact-finding to fully understand farming and rural risks, identify gaps in cover and deliver tailored insurance solutions
  • Work closely with insurer partners and internal stakeholders to secure competitive terms and maximise conversion rates
  • Ensure all client and prospect records are accurately maintained, with clear documentation of discussions and decisions in line with internal procedures
  • Collaborate with internal sales leadership and the wider new business function to support deal progression and pipeline management
  • Facilitate a smooth and structured handover of new clients to the dedicated rural servicing team within the agreed post-inception period
  • Support the wider accounts function with premium collection activity and contribute to the achievement of aged debt targets
  • Operate at all times in line with FCA requirements, including complaints handling, disclosure obligations and policy documentation standards

Key Performance Indicators

  • Delivery of agricultural new business income, including cross-sell and up-sell performance where applicable
  • Volume and quality of pipeline activity, including prospects generated, quoted and converted
  • Contribution to aged debt control and premium collection outcomes

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in agricultural or rural insurance sales to a senior level
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities
  • Knowledge of FCA-regulated environments and best practice client management
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with farmers, rural businesses, insurers and internal stakeholders
