Cloud FinOps Manager

About the Role
Vanrath is recruiting on behalf of an esteemed client seeking a skilled FinOps Specialist. This exciting role involves defining, implementing, and evolving the FinOps function in alignment with the FinOps Foundation and the well-architected framework. You will ensure the cost-effectiveness of our client's cloud operating model by managing cloud service consumption, coordinating cloud cost management initiatives, and fostering a culture of cost-consciousness.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the FinOps strategy to improve efficiency and minimise risk.
  • Optimise cloud services and resources to maximise investment value.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with FinOps processes.
  • Work with Procurement and Legal teams to negotiate cloud contracts.
  • Monitor cloud usage, manage budgets, and ensure policy compliance.
  • Identify and leverage cost-saving mechanisms like reserved instances and savings plans.
  • Reconcile cloud provider invoicing for accurate billing.
  • Collaborate with Finance and IT to establish budgets and usage forecasts.
  • Align infrastructure with cloud cost goals, working closely with engineering and development teams.
  • Enforce FinOps policies and best practices.
  • Provide financial reporting and data analysis for senior management.


Requirements

  • Experience in a FinOps role, ideally within professional services.
  • Proven track record managing cloud costs for major providers (Microsoft, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience delivering FinOps projects and initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost management and optimisation.
  • Knowledge of cloud contracting, commitment, and licensing models.
  • Proficiency with financial modelling and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management tools.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with professional standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • High personal credibility and influence at all business levels.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in a global environment with an appreciation of multiple cultures.
