Vanrath are recruiting for an Clerical Officer on behalf of a large public sector body in Lisburn on a temporary basis.

About your next employer
Clerical Officers will be responsible for carrying out a full range of clerical, secretarial, administrative and customer service duties. The post holder will assume other delegated duties relevant to the post reasonably assigned by the Administrative Assistant including participation in the interchange of duties / location to cover annual leave / other absences.

What you'll do

  1. Provision of general word processing, typing, administrative services and also maintenance of computer systems, e.g. databases, spreadsheets.
  2. Provide administration and telephone support for Mayor's Office
  3. Assist with administration for Mayoral events, engagements and civic events as required.
  4. Assisting with the provision of an efficient customer service and dealing with written enquiries and telephone / personal calls from the public as required in accordance with Council Customer Care standards.
  5. Provision of clerical and administrative support to include word processing, assisting with purchasing, filing, budget monitoring and maintenance of records and processing of incoming/outgoing mail and email messages.
  6. Promotion of Council services and special events and assisting at events as required.
  7. Assist at mayoral charity and fundraising events to include evenings and weekend.
  8. Provide administrative support as directed within the Corporate Communications and Admin Unit

  1. Ensure compliance with Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of management and personal behaviour, which reflect the core values and behaviours of the organisation.

  3. Ensure the provision of high standards of customer care across all the services provided by the Unit and promote and manage the service effectively and communicate in a way, which enhances and promotes the public image and overall reputation of the Council.
  4. Develop and enhance working relationships with relevant partners and stakeholders to maximise corporate and community planning outcomes and to generate innovation in service delivery.



About you
- 5 GCSEs (grades A-C), including English Language (or equivalent qualification).
- At least 1 years' experience in a clerical or administrative role.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a work environment.
- Experience in dealing with members of the public in person and/or via telephone.
- Knowledge of office administration systems including records management, handling correspondence, and mail processing.
- Understanding of customer service principles and Council Customer Care standards.
