Overview
The Category Officer will support procurement activities within a designated category, ensuring value for money, compliance with public procurement regulations, and the delivery of efficient and effective procurement solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and management of procurement strategies for assigned categories.
- Conduct market research and supplier analysis to inform procurement decisions.
- Support the tendering process, including drafting documents, evaluating bids, and liaising with stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with public procurement regulations and internal policies.
- Monitor contract performance and supplier relationships to ensure service delivery and value for money.
- Provide procurement advice and guidance to internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to procurement activities.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria:
- CIPS qualification (or working towards it).
- Experience in category management within a public sector environment
