VANRATH are recruiting a Buyer to work on various commercial fit out projects in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Remuneration:
c£40,000 - £50,000 + package

Client:
Our client is a leading interior fit-out contractor based in Greater Belfast, Northern Ireland. They specialise in high quality commercial interior fit-out projects covering retail, hospitality, business, sport and healthcare.

Business is very busy and the company are consistently winning more work. Due to an increase in workload they are looking for a Buyer to join them on a permanent basis, based in their Belfast offices.

Role:

As a Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. You will oversee buying activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers. You will also liaise with the Logistics Manager to ensue efficient and effective delivery of purchased goods to site.

  • Providing guidance to relevant staff in all buying matters
  • Ensuring that legislative requirements are understood and incorporated into controls, policies and procedures
  • Ensure that the correct procedures are followed in respect of all major buying activities
  • Continually develop buying expertise across to support staff development, knowledge and expertise in buying activities
  • Set up a process of review for all Contracts, Supplies and Suppliers ensuring that maximum value for money benefits are achieved through supplier rationalisation, developing an Approved Supplier list
  • Build and develop good relationships with key suppliers to ensure best value for money and customer satisfaction with services provided
  • Ensure that all areas of concern are identified and addressed as early as possible, with remedial action taken
  • Engage with suppliers to ensure that value for money and economies of scale are used to where appropriate
  • Ensuring that all invoices are checked for quantity and price before passing for payment
  • Ensuring delivery deadlines are met
  • Ensure that all suppliers used for pricing are competent and capable of delivering the required quality safely to the required timescales
  • Check all long lead items and informing quantity surveyor immediately once project has been secured
  • Ensure that the level of mistakes in buying undertaken is minimised
  • Help to ensure we have a sufficiently large pool of suppliers for us to obtain competitive pricing where possible
  • Ensure that the necessary training is provided to the members of the buying team to enable them to support the business wherever possible
  • Identify and develop buying training for non-buying staff
  • Engage with the business to identify the key buying priorities and ensure that resources are assigned accordingly
  • Work effectively with other staff across the organisation
  • To comply with Terms and Conditions of Service
  • To comply with Financial Regulations
  • Preparation of items for delivery, packing and wrapping and loading items in a safe manner



The Ideal Person:

  • Ideally Degree qualified / other relevant qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience as a Buyer for a reputable Construction Main Contractor
  • CIPS qualified or working towards (or similar)
  • Demonstrable evidence of a high level of technical knowledge surrounding procurement activities in a Construction / Fit out environment including: - Supply Chain Management - Contract Management - Contract Law
  • Good communication skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Team player
  • Computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Decisive and analytical
  • Committed to delivering value for money and demonstrating improvements against external benchmarks, achieving and exceeding targets
  • Previous experiment of using procurement management systems
