Business Support Manager

Location: Downpatrick
Salary: £39,000
Contract: 46 Weeks

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Support Manager to lead and develop a comprehensive administrative business support service within a large public sector organisation.

This role will suit a confident and capable leader who can manage teams, drive service improvements and ensure the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused business support across a busy operational department.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage and coordinate a flexible Business Support team, ensuring high service standards are consistently achieved
  • Lead on service transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop, review and implement business support systems, procedures and operating standards
  • Oversee complaints handling, FOI requests, data subject access requests and performance reporting
  • Contribute to departmental business planning and budget monitoring
  • Support performance management, data validation and statutory reporting
  • Deputise for senior management as required
  • Ensure governance, risk management and compliance standards are maintained

This is a hands-on management role requiring strong operational oversight alongside strategic input into service development.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • A minimum Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC in Business/Administration) and at least 6months' experience in:
    • Working with internal and external customers
    • Report writing and analysing statistical information
    • Implementing business support processes and operating procedures

OR

  • At least 12 months' relevant experience in the above areas in lieu of formal qualifications

Additionally, applicants must have:

  • Experience supervising or managing staff
  • Experience using Management Information Systems
  • Budgetary experience (e.g. monitoring budgets, processing expenditure, raising purchase orders, approving invoices)
  • Experience identifying and managing change initiatives
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A full driving licence and access to transport (or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the post)
