About the Role

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Support Manager to lead and develop a high-performing administrative support service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking council and play a key role in delivering efficient, customer-focused services across departments.
As a Business Support Manager, you will manage a team of administrative professionals, drive service improvements, and support the implementation of business support standards and procedures. You'll also contribute to transformation initiatives and performance improvement activities that align with the Council's strategic goals.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate business support services across departments.
  • Lead and support staff, ensuring high performance and development.
  • Implement and monitor business support standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to change management and service transformation projects.
  • Handle departmental complaints, FOI requests, and performance data.
  • Support budget planning and financial monitoring.


Essential Criteria

  • A Level 4 qualification (e.g. HNC in business/administration) and 6 months' relevant experience

OR - At least 12 months' relevant experience in:

  • Working with internal and external customers
  • Report writing and data analysis
  • Implementing business support processes
  • Experience supervising staff or volunteers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full driving licence and access to transport

    Desirable

    • Experience with Management Information Systems
    • Budgetary experience (e.g. grant claims, purchase orders)
    • Experience managing change initiatives
