Building Maintenance Officer (Public Sector)

VANRATH are assisting our client, a large Public Sector Organisation, in their search for a Building Maintenance Officer for 8 months initially with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the condition of designated area within estates for which he/she holds responsibility, on the basis of survey reports and periodic detailed inspection, identifying and initiating work as necessary.
  • Review and implement preventative maintenance schedules as appropriate to ensure the cost-effective operation of the estate.
  • Prepare and control maintenance contractors and designated subordinate staff to carry out routine maintenance and minor works, operating within cost limits and monitoring all invoices to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Allocate work to and supervise staff within designated areas, ensuring efficient management of workload.
  • Establish, maintain, develop and control the procedures for all operations and maintenance work.
  • Ensure that in-hour and outside contract groups operate within defined procedures.



Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant building discipline Plus 2 years' relevant experience in the past 5 Years working in a technical role

OR

  • HND/HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant building discipline AND 3 years relevant experience in the last 6 Years working in a technical role

OR

  • 5 years relevant building officer experience in past 8 Years working in a technical role

  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car
  • Experience of and the ability to develop minor projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience as a building maintenance officer with responsibility for the management of an in house maintenance team and or the management of maintenance contractors



Remuneration
c£43,742 per annum, plus discount benefits.
