Job Description

VANRATH are partnering with our client, a large public sector housing organisation, in their recruitment for an experienced Board & Committee Support Manager to join their Risk and Governance team based in Belfast.

This is an advantageous opportunity to progress within a management position with a focus on delivering an effective and efficient and governance function. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure of multiple deadlines.

About you

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate the following qualifications in their CV:

  • Possess a degree level or equivalent qualification.
  • Hold a professional certificate/qualification in Governance.

  • Have three years relevant experience in a role involving Secretariat or Governance within a large, complex organisation.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate 3 years' experience in the following areas:

  1. Experience of Minute taking at Management level
  2. Experience of working with Senior Management, Board Members and Public Representatives
  3. Experience of managing staff effectively
  4. Experience of report writing
  5. Applying the principles of Good Governance

Knowledge and experience of working with Government Departments or in the public sector is highly advantageous.

What you'll do

The post holder will support the Risk & Governance Manager by providing support and advice to the Board and its Committees to ensure effective governance and to assist in the delivery of a robust governance framework for the organisation to ensure that it continues to meet its core objectives.

In doing so, you will assist in the development and continued enhancement of the governance framework and related documents and ensure their effective implementation. You will effectively manage the Board & Committee Support Team and ensure that they provide the required high quality, consistent advice and support to management and employees and other stakeholders.

This will require working collaboratively with other managers and ensure effective working relationships between the Risk & Governance Team and other key stakeholders.
