Vanrath are recruiting for a Band 5 Day Care Worker on behalf of a large public sector company in Mid Ulster Locality (Magherafelt/ Cookstown) on an ongoing block booking (to Sept with possible extension) basis.

About your next employer
To work as a member of the Day Care Team under the supervision of management staff in the provision of individual and group programmes of care to promote the service users independence and development. This includes providing cover to other adult centres and units within the locality or outside the locality when required.

What you'll do

  • Plan, develop and implement individual and group programmes of care e.g. daily living skills, personal care and social interaction / communication skills designed to enhance and maximise the capabilities and independence of the service user.
  • Assess service users on a regular and systemic basis, including the completion of appropriate assessment models.
  • Participate in monitoring and reviewing individual and group programmes of care, and maintain records as required by the Trust.
  • Develop and implement a programme of habilitation and rehabilitation tailored to meet the assessed need of each service user.
  • Establish goals on an individual and group basis so as to ensure the effective utilisation of resources i.e. day care, home, community, voluntary and statutory agencies. This will include activities outside the centre.
  • Liaise with other appropriate persons involved in the programme of care of members i.e. colleagues, social workers, multi-disciplinary team and other agencies.
  • Participate in meeting the physical, emotional, social and personal needs of service users, incorporating complex health needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Work as part of a Team to care for animals as part of therapeutic intervention
  • Attend regular reviews of service users and provide written reports of assessment as required.
  • Participate in a formal programme of staff supervision.
  • Provide direction and support to day care workers, support workers, students and volunteers.
  • Participate in QCF training.
  • Participate in conferences, courses and meetings organised/arranged by the Trust.
  • Assist with the duty rota for transport of adult centre members as required by the Trust.


About you
Essential:
Professional Social Work qualification recognised by NISCC
Or
First Level Nursing qualification on part 1 level 1 of NMC register (learning disability, mental health or adult)
Or
Allied Health Professional registered with the Health Professional Council
Or
NVQ/QCF/RVQ level 3 in care or Equivalent level 3 qualification in care plus 2 years paid employment experience with adults with a learning disability,
Or
NVQ/QCF/RVQ level 2 in care or Equivalent level 2 qualification in care plus 3 years paid employment experience with adults with a learning disability,

By date of appointment, the successful candidate must be registered on the NISCC Register of Social Care Workers or relevant professional regulatory body
