Job Description

Vanrath are recruiting for a Band 3 Residential Child Care Worker on behalf of a large public sector company in Bangor on a temporary basis.

About your next employer
The post holder will be a member of the care staff who will as part of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering best quality care to the children who avail of the service; assisting in the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the provision of care of children, with a physical or learning disability and associated challenging behaviour.

What you'll do

  • Co-ordinate effective and holistic care in a multi-professional setting.
  • Deliver and promote evidence based practice and care plans.
  • Contribute to the improvement of effective care using an outcomes approach.
  • Lead by example in the promotion of high standards of care, to ensure a quality service. This will include supporting young people with physical and emotional care needs.
  • Demonstrate commitment through regular attendance, efficient completion of duties and participation in department /team work activities.
  • Assisting in the assessment of care for children who use the specific service.
  • Helping in the planning of care using person centred planning.
  • Implementation of care for individuals and as a client group, using the person-centred approach.
  • To work in partnership with the children, to ensure their needs are met.
  • To ensure all children are cared for as individuals.
  • To work with parents and carers as partners and stakeholders.
  • To work in partnership with other agencies to ensure a high quality, seamless service for the children.
  • To offer a range of activities to the children.
  • To provide a service which is integrated and involved in the community.
  • To use knowledge of the care of children with a physical or learning disability and challenging behaviour to provide a quality service.
  • To ensure information, related to clients, is shared appropriately.
  • To participate in shifts including mornings, evening, weekends, night duty, overnight sleep in duties as required.
  • To help create a homely atmosphere.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for children, staff and visitors.



About you
An NVQ Level 2, in care and have one year's relevant experience working to support families.
Or
A NVQ level 3 in Care
Or
Two years relevant experience working with children and families.
Applicant will be required to undertake additional training to achieve NVQ level 3 or equivalent.

  • Successful applicants must prior to commencing employment, complete registration with NISCC or other Council e.g. GSCC
