Assistant Trading Manager - FMCG (hybrid)

VANRATH are recruiting for an Assistant Trading Manager, in partnership with a leading FMCG and Food Retail Services business with a substantial multi-billion turnover.

Responsibilities

• Continuously assess and refine the product assortment using category management principles, informed by market trends, sales insights, and supplier innovations.

• Create and communicate clear category plans to all relevant teams and clients to ensure full alignment and effective execution aimed at boosting sales and profitability.

• Plan and implement range rationalisation and refresh cycles according to company schedules.

• Develop supply strategies to address seasonal variations and market demand shifts.

• Monitor key product metrics such as sales volume, profit margins, and market share, taking necessary action to meet targets.

• Conduct competitor pricing analysis and review supplier costs to maintain competitive customer offerings.

• Lead negotiations on pricing and supply agreements in accordance with regional policies.

• Manage the balance between pricing structures, discounts, rebates, and promotional activities to uphold the brand's value proposition.

The Ideal Candidate

• At least one year of experience in a buyer or category management position within the food retail or wholesale sector.

• Strong capability in analysing data and drawing actionable insights.

• Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable commercial outcomes in a fast-paced setting.
