Assistant Site Manager - Education New Build & Fit-Out (Based in Newry, Project in Drogheda)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Site Manager to join a well-established and professional construction company delivering new-build and fit-out education projects across Ireland. The role will be based out of the company's Newry operations, with the successful candidate working on a key education project located in Drogheda. The business has a strong reputation for quality delivery, high Health & Safety standards, and investing in the development of its people.
The Ideal Person
You will be an Assistant Site Manager or experienced Site Foreperson with proven experience working on new-build and fit-out projects, ideally within the education or public-sector environment. You will be a motivated and hands-on individual, capable of supporting day-to-day site operations, coordinating trades and subcontractors, and working closely with the Site Manager to drive the project forward safely, on time, and to a high standard.
This role is well suited to someone looking to progress their career toward full Site Management responsibility.
Responsibilities
As Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager in the delivery of the project, with responsibilities including:
Assisting with the day-to-day management of site operations
Coordinating site labour, subcontractors, plant and materials
Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and programme
Supporting Health & Safety management, including risk assessments and safe systems of work
Monitoring quality standards across new-build and fit-out works
Surveying works to identify and mitigate construction or design issues
Maintaining accurate site records, reports and progress updates
Liaising with subcontractors, engineers and the wider project team
Supporting programme delivery, productivity and site logistics
Assisting with inspections, snagging and handover activities
Essential Criteria
Experience as an Assistant Site Manager, Site Foreperson or similar role on new-build and/or fit-out projects
Strong practical and technical understanding of building construction
Ability to work on own initiative while supporting senior site management
Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills
A proactive and problem-solving approach to site delivery
Relevant third-party Health & Safety site management training
Full driving licence
Remuneration
Up to £50,000 per annum DOE, plus an attractive benefits package including:
