Client

A leading Public Sector organisation is currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join their team based in South Belfast for an initial 3-6 month contract. Responsibilities

The Postholder will assist the Financial Accounts Manager deliver financial accounting services and will be responsible for managing the payroll liaison function.

  • To maintain the payroll liaison function, to include monitoring of key controls, compiling reports.
  • Maintain arrangements to support payments to staff on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure prompt, efficient and effective responses to queries from employees' and external agencies concerning payroll, taxation, superannuation issues and payroll debtors.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of the annual accounts (to include the preparation of individual notes within revenue and charitable funds).
  • Ensures that the reconciliation of the control account balances is completed, and variances resolved, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Liaises with internal and external audit to ensure effective input to audit work and the implementation of agreed recommendations.
  • Ensure effective implementation of new and updated Accounting Standards.
  • Assist with the completion of Whole of Government Accounts and DoH returns.
  • Assist with the development of financial procedures and policies.

The Ideal Person

Demonstrate 5 years relevant* Finance experience at which 2 years should be at a Supervisory Level**

OR

Part Qualified Accountant (at Stage 3 and currently studying) under one of the 5 professional accounting institutes within the CCAB or CIMA and 2 years relevant* Finance experience.
