Assistant Accountant (Omagh)

My client has worked on many high-profile projects throughout Ireland, with many of these projects being both in the public and private sectors. The successful candidate would report to the Finance Director.


The Role
The successful candidate will join an already established, close-knit finance team and will report directly to the FD. This role offers a varied workload and ensures the successful candidate gains hands on experience with the preparation of management reports. This role has clear career progression, and the successful applicant will work their way up to Management Accountant level. The successful individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Maintenance of Sales Ledger
  • Maintenance of Purchase Ledger
  • Nominal Ledger
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Payroll
  • Pension Returns
  • Statutory Returns (PAYE, VAT, CIS, RCT)
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Payments
  • Rent allocations


The Ideal Accountant
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a similar role as an accounting technician or accounts assistant. Moreover, it would be beneficial if the successful candidate has experience using sage and previous ROI exposure. The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • IATI/AAT or a part-qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) accountant
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a transactional finance function, with knowledge to management accounting principles
  • Previous experience using computerised accounting software
  • Excel proficient: V-Lookups/Pivot Tables
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Team player
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical
