VANRATH are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a global, market-leading manufacturing organisation in Cookstown as they look to recruit an Assistant Accountant on an interim basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing finance team and offers as a 9-12 month fixed-term contract, this role has a strong potential to become permanent based on business needs and performance - making it ideal for candidates seeking both immediate impact and long-term career progression.
The Role:
As Assistant Accountant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the wider finance function with accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance duties, and continuous improvement projects. This is a varied and hands-on position that offers excellent exposure across multiple areas of finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting
Support year-end processes including reconciliations and Balance Sheet schedules
Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting activities
Treasury & Payables
Monitor and manage daily cash flow to ensure smooth operations
Review and approve supplier payment runs
Oversee employee expense claims in line with company policy
Compliance & Statutory Reporting
Support the preparation and submission of UK and ROI VAT returns
Assist with Intrastat / EC Sales returns
Aid in the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors
Fixed Assets & Intercompany Transactions
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register
Ensure timely and accurate processing of intercompany recharges
Operational Finance Support
Collaborate with AP/AR teams, offering cover and support during peak periods
Contribute to finance improvement projects and process enhancements
Occasional travel between company sites may be required
What we are looking for;
- Part qualified Accountant studying with either CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent.
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to use own initiative and demonstrate a high level of organisational skill.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial people.
