Assistant Accountant - County Down (Exclusive to VANRATH)

VANRATH are thrilled to be working exclusively with a well-established and growing business based in County Down, as they look to appoint an Assistant Accountant to join their expanding finance team. this is a sole role working with the company directors, and reporting to the MD.

The Person

  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or Bookkeeper
  • Capable of managing sales and purchase ledgers, reconciliations, and assisting with month-end reporting
  • Strong understanding of VAT and experience with ROI or cross-border accounting desirable
  • Proficient in Sage, Xero, or similar accounting systems
  • Excellent Excel and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic, organised, and confident working both independently and as part of a team

The Role

  • Assist with preparation of management accounts and month-end journals
  • Maintain accurate ledgers, bank reconciliations, and supplier payments
  • Support VAT preparation and ensure compliance across NI and ROI
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and external accountants
  • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and support with audit preparation
  • Play an active role in process improvements and system efficiency projects
