Are you an experienced Assistant Accountant who is keen to join a Public Sector organisation. This role is offering the opportunity for an immediate start on an initial 6- 12-month contract.

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a Public Sector organisation who are currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join their team for an initial period of 6- 12 months. Due to internal promotions this is an opportunity to join an organisation who offer their services to individuals and local communities.

Reporting to the Finance Officer, the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for producing, monitoring and maintaining payment processing systems and controls, along with managing staff within the team. Additionally, they will be expected to support the Finance Officer by undertaking the finance duties detailed below.

If you've 2+ years' experience of working as an Assistant Accountant and are available to start immediately:

  • Previous Assistant Accountant experience
  • Available immediately
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Proactive approach
  • Strong teamwork ability

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Completion of month end Management Accounts
  • Assist in year-end procedures
  • Assist with audits
  • Maintain digital and physical financial records
  • Assisting in the administration of procurement exercises
