Job Description

A manufacturing business based in the Derry/Londonderry area require an Assistant Accountant to join their team for an initial period of 6 months, are you an experienced Assistant Accountant who is comfortable with the month end processes?

VANRATH are delighted to be working with one of Northern Ireland's most recognisable employers who are currently recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join their team, initially on a 6 month contract basis, with poential for extension.

The Ideal Person

If you are an Assistant Accountant/Assistant Management Accountant;

  • Degree or equivalent in Accountancy or another relevant subject.
  • Studying towards accounts technician or CIMA / ACCA
  • 6 Mths Experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of contacts from corporate and external vendors to manufacturing employees.
  • Proactive problem solving and results oriented, able to work on own initiative.
  • Strong reporting skills.
  • Ability to work productively and flexibly while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Accountant you will:

  • Working with and supporting the Accounts team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of work in accordance with pre-determined metrics.
  • Assist in the production of management accounts.
  • Variance Analysis.
  • Prepare and Post Journals.
  • Month-end Balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Completion of FP&A Supplementals.
  • Prepare month-end accruals in a timely manner per the month end checklist.
  • Support the processing on Payroll, Pension Scheme Administration and submission of HMRC returns
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Accounts team, promoting and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ad hoc projects as required.
